The Royal Canadian Legion - Application For Membership

"2020 Poppy Campaign"

MESSAGE FROM THE DOMINION PRESIDENT

Comrades,

A recent situation identified apprehension by some branches and members to participate in the 2020 Poppy Campaign due to COVID-19.
Notwithstanding the potential loss of donations for the Poppy Fund, each branch and member has an obligation to participate. But with the outbreak, members are naturally concerned.
Branch participation in the campaign can be done in many ways – it does not solely mean scheduling their members to physically be somewhere with a Poppy tray. The Dominion Command P&R Committee has made arrangements with a number of national corporate partners – all a branch needs to do is drop off a tray at their local Tim Hortons, Starbucks and a host of other businesses – easy to do and branches will still, then, be participating in the campaign. This will alleviate the concern of hesitant branches.
For individual members, a number of participation options exist. The Dominion President has written a message on the importance of the campaign and included are a variety of ways members can participate. It is attached. This message has been posted on the Legion website portal and will be added to the next all-branch. I ask that Command Executive Directors please also share this message with their branches now so we can work towards maximum participation in the campaign for the benefit of our Veterans and their families.

PROVIGO and MAXI & Cie POPPY CAMPAIGN

Provigo and Maxi & Cie stores have graciously accepted to received donations at their cash during the Poppy Campaign.

Please click here to view the notice that will be put in all their stores in Quebec.

The funds collected will be sent to Provincial Command at the end of the year or the beginning of 2021 and these funds will be distributed to the branches whether you have one in your area or not.

PURCHASES OF N95 PROTECTIVE MASK

The following excerpt from "the national campaign letter" sent from Dominion Command indicates that the "volunteer should be wearing an N95 mask".
The key word is SHOULD and does not mean that MUST.
For those that do not have an N95 mask, a regular mask is acceptable.

“When collecting Poppy donations in person at a business the volunteer should place the Poppies on an accessible table and remain six feet or two metres distance from the box.
The volunteer should be wearing a N95 protective mask and have access to a bottle of hand sanitizer both of which can be purchased for this campaign with funds as outlined in article 401.i.c. of the Poppy Manual.”
